School Sponsorships
EdPowerment
is sponsoring five young women at the Notre Dame School in Ngiro who
would otherwise not have an opportunity to further their education at
the secondary level.
Project Kilimahewa
EdPowerment is also
providing stipends for a combination of "volunteer" teachers and
certified teachers at the Kilimahewa Informal School. In April a
mid-morning snack program was initiated so that students who often come
to school hungry can better focus on their studies. One of Kilimahewa
school's former teaching volunteers continues his successful studies at
the Arusha School of Accountancy. Kilimahewa supervisors are now
identifying promising students for preparatory programs in order to pass
qualifying exams for secondary schools.
Country Director Grace
Lyimo is in the process of obtaining competitive bids for the
construction of a bore hole water source to advance the Kilimahewa
school and community.
Autism Connects Tanzania
Our third program, Autism
Connects Tanzania, is in the beginning stages of establishing
connections in the Arusha-Moshi communities to spread the word about the
information, resources and programs that ACT is developing.
